Will Hutton is a political economist, author, think tank/academic leader and Observer columnist. He is currently President of the Academy of Social Sciences (since 2021), hosts the We Society podcast and co-chairs the Purposeful Company (since 2015). He also chairs the advisory board of the Fairness Foundation, is trustee of the National Institure for Economic and Social Research, a member of the Progressive Economic Forum and editorial advisory board of Prospect magazine. His now fifty year career spans a period in the City as an investment banker, the Economics editorship of the Guardian and BBC2 Newsnight , the editorship of the Observer, the chief executive of the Work Foundation and Principal of Hertford College Oxford. A few years later after starting his first job he was sectioned and admitted to hospital with stress and depression. Luckily, Jon was able to get the right help in the end and returned to work a year later. However, Jon decided not to tell anyone about his mental illness or Dad’s suicide for nearly 20 years due to the stigma and affect he thought it would have on his career and friendships. It was sadly after the suicide of a close friend due to postnatal depression in 2016 that Jon decided he had to speak out. Jon has since gone on to be the Co-CEO of the Speakers Collective not for profit, challenging stigma and facilitating important conversations with lived experience speakers. Co-produce What’s Going On In Your Head exploring the secret inner workings of the mind through performance art and discussion. A trustee for Let’s Talk About Loss a charity for young people who have been bereaved, and a mentor for The House of St Barnabas Soho, employment academy to break the cycle of homelessness.

Nick has led the design and evaluation of mental health programmes for national organisations and advises on selecting effective and ethical support providers. He combines clinical insight with practical knowledge to help organisations make informed decisions about employee wellbeing and mental health provision.

With a background in social science, Lucy spent some of her early career examining how workplace cultures, policies, and societal structures impact inclusion, belonging, and opportunity. Her expertise spans disability, diversity, equity, and inclusion, workplace wellbeing, and employee experience.Having navigated a squiggly career, Lucy understands firsthand that career paths don’t always follow a traditional route, especially for neurodivergent people. She is passionate about shaping environments where disabled and neurodivergent people are not just included but empowered to thrive.
